Open roads - breathtaking scenery

  • The event is held mainly on well-surfaced back roads with very little traffic
  • The views around this Borders route are fantastic
  • The challenge takes in the Samye Ling Tibetan Monastery, the largest Buddhist centre in Europe.
  • This is an event organised by cyclists for cyclists. We know what facilities cyclists need at these events, and we provide them.

Long route

The long route is a distance of 104 miles (168 Km), and has 10 big climbs totalling 2422m

This route is a tough challenge, and is for experienced riders.

Feed stations are at 35 miles and 74 miles.

Middle route

New to the Laidlaw is the 85 miles challenge: same as the long route, but we turn off at Tushielaw to miss out the difficult climbs of the Berrybush, the Swire, the Woll and the Leap Linns, making the last 20 miles much easier.

Short route

This 46 mile (74 Km) challenge follows 35 miles of the full route and then turns back at the feed station to follow another challenge home to Hawick.

There are 5 big climbs totalling 1557m.
